Civil law and notarial services, backed by attorneys and notaries public
Deeds, estates, wills, adverse possession, contracts and civil litigation. We review every case with the documents in hand and explain clearly what needs to be done and what it will cost.
What we do
Two complementary areas: notarial practice, which gives legal form and certainty to transactions, and civil law, which resolves disputes and regularizes pending situations. In Uruguay, the escribano público is a university-trained legal professional who drafts deeds and gives them public faith, a broader role than a notary in common-law countries.

Before you contact us
What documents should I have for the first consultation?
Your ID or passport and whatever you have on the matter: title deeds, the property’s padrón number, certificates, contracts or court notices. If you don’t have everything, we can still guide you and obtain what is missing.
How much are your fees?
They depend on the type of matter. Before we begin, we send you a written proposal with our fees and the estimated expenses, so you know the total cost in advance.
Do I need a notary to buy or sell property in Uruguay?
Yes. A real estate sale must be executed by public deed before an escribano público and recorded in the Property Registry. The escribano checks titles, debts and liens before signing.
How long does a property purchase take?
From signing the reservation agreement (boleto de reserva) to the deed usually takes 4 to 6 weeks. We will give you an estimate for your case.
Is it mandatory to open the estate proceedings?
Yes, if the heirs want to sell, mortgage or register the assets in their own name. Without the estate proceedings, the assets remain in the name of the deceased.
Do you work outside Montevideo?
Yes. We regularly work in Montevideo, Canelones, Maldonado and Rocha.
